Four Creative Ways to Use Bean Bags

I love using bean bags for heavy work. Even using weighted stuffed animals, and crash pads for providing deep pressure is helpful for calming kids. Here are four ways to use these fun items, ball pits, & crash pads for regulation, movement, & fun!

1st: Drive into Bean Bags

Pick up any circle as a toy and take turns “driving” into the crash pad!

2nd: Crashing & Big Squeezes

Take the leap and dive into (a very well cushioned) bean sack or foam pit!

3rd: The Hulk / Lifting Heavy Bean Bags

Time to use those biceps! Can your child carry the bean bag across the room, or lift to find a toy underneath?

4th: “Climb Over the Mountain”

You can make this activity like an obstacle course! How many times can your child crawl, jump, and climb over?

Activities like these can help with a heightened nervous system and navigating dealing with distressing distractions. This is relevant to parents, caregivers, and adults too!

By using bean bags, big or small, I can provide movement and also bring about addressing body awareness too! Great for children on the move, or if you want to get out some energy yourself.

What ways do you use heavy toys & crash pads? Let me know!
